Structured mental health treatment for Morristown residents who need more than weekly therapy, 25 minutes away in Chester.
Morristown has no shortage of therapists. As the county seat, it is a hub for private-practice therapy in Morris County. What it lacks is the middle step: structured care for adults who need more than a weekly session but do not need a hospital.
Wellness Hills Mental Health Treatment fills that gap from our office in Chester, roughly 20 to 25 minutes from Morristown Green via Route 24. We offer intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization (PHP) programs, outpatient therapy, and psychiatric medication management. Many Morristown residents combine in-person and telehealth sessions to fit treatment into their work schedules.
If you already know you need a higher level of care, call 973-532-5139 or verify your insurance online to get started.
Wellness Hills offers three levels of care from our Chester office, each at a different intensity. The right fit depends on how much structure your symptoms currently require, and an assessment determines that.
IOP is for people who need structured support several times per week while maintaining their job, family, or school commitments. Sessions run in scheduled blocks rather than full days, so treatment fits around life instead of replacing it.
Sessions combine group and individual work using approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy CBT, DBT skills training, and exposure-based therapy, depending on your treatment plan.

PHP is the most structured level of outpatient care we offer. It is often appropriate when symptoms significantly disrupt daily functioning but do not require round-the-clock hospital care.
Programming includes psychiatric oversight, structured group therapy grounded in CBT and DBT, and individual sessions, with intensity stepping down as symptoms stabilize.
Our partial hospitalization program page covers the schedule and what to expect.
We also provide individual therapy and psychiatric care with Paula Weisman, PMHNP-BC. Medication may be part of a treatment plan when clinically indicated, and that decision is made with you after an assessment.
Assessments use structured screening tools, including the GAD-7 and PHQ-9, alongside a full clinical evaluation. See our medication management page for details.
Treatment at Wellness Hills is delivered by a named, licensed clinical team. Psychiatric evaluations and medication management are provided by Paula Weisman, PMHNP-BC. Individual and group therapy is led by licensed clinicians, including Leigh Rasmussen, LPC, LCADC. You can read each clinician’s background on our team page.
The drive from Morristown is simple: Route 24 west through Mendham into Chester, about 20 to 25 minutes from the Morristown Green outside peak traffic.
There is no highway interchange to navigate and no city parking to fight. Our office sits on Main Street across from the Chase Bank, with plenty of free on-site parking.
For many Morristown residents, the harder problem is not the drive. It is the calendar. Morristown is a Morris and Essex Line town, and commuters working in Newark or New York often cannot make daytime in-person sessions work.
Telehealth sessions, where clinically appropriate, keep treatment consistent on office days, with in-person visits scheduled around the days you are home.
Our programs serve adults with anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety and panic. Structured outpatient care may be appropriate when anxiety no longer responds to weekly sessions alone. Our anxiety treatment hub covers these conditions in depth.
We also treat depression and related mood disorders at every level of care. Start with our depression treatment hub.
For adults living with the effects of trauma, including PTSD, our trauma treatment pages explain what care involves. We also work with people managing borderline personality disorder.

IOP and PHP are not the right level of care for every situation. If you are in active suicidal crisis, need 24-hour monitoring, or need medical detox, you need a higher level of care than we provide, and we will say so.
Morristown has that care close by. Morristown Medical Center operates a voluntary inpatient psychiatric unit in town. Saint Clare’s in Denville serves as Morris County’s designated psychiatric emergency screening center, available 24 hours a day.
For immediate danger to yourself or someone else, call 911 or call or text 988.
Hospital care and outpatient care are connected, not separate paths. We help coordinate step-up referrals when needed, and many people step down to our PHP or IOP after a hospital stay.
Most major insurance plans may cover IOP and PHP, though coverage levels vary by plan and program. The fastest way to know your actual cost is to let us check before you start.
Verify your insurance, and our team will confirm your benefits, usually within one business day. For a fuller picture of costs and payment options, see our insurance coverage page.

"I felt supported, understood, and never judged. The therapists here actually listen, and the groups helped me build confidence and skills I didn’t even know I needed. I’m healthier, calmer, and finally hopeful about my future. I’m so grateful for the care I received.”
Client Satisfaction
Structured treatment is one piece of a larger local support network. These services operate independently of Wellness Hills, and they are worth knowing whether or not you ever call us.
If you are not sure which of these fits your situation, that is a fair question to bring to your first call with us.
These are the questions Morristown callers most often ask before starting treatment. If yours is not answered here, call us; that is what the first conversation is for.
Yes, and we encourage it when it supports your care. Many clients continue with their existing therapist while attending IOP, and with your consent, we coordinate directly so the work stays aligned rather than duplicated. If you step down from our program later, that relationship is already in place.
Yes. Our IOP runs in two scheduling tracks, daytime and evening, so clients riding the Morris and Essex Line can keep a consistent schedule. Where clinically appropriate, telehealth covers office days, with in-person sessions on the days you are home.
About 20 to 25 minutes outside peak traffic. Take Route 24 west through Mendham into Chester; our office is on Main Street, with free on-site parking, so there is no circling the block before an appointment.
Yes, where clinically appropriate. Many of our clients ride the Morris and Essex line into Newark or New York, so we use telehealth to keep sessions consistent on office days and schedule in-person care around your home days.
Starting is simpler than most people expect. You call, we talk for a few minutes about what is going on, and we check your insurance. From there, we schedule an assessment, in person at our Chester office or by telehealth if that works better from Morristown.
There is no commitment in the first call. It exists so you can stop wondering whether this is the right place and find out. Call 973-532-5139 or verify your insurance online to take the first step.
