Wellness Hills provides mental health treatment for Denville residents at our facility in Chester, about 25 to 35 minutes away by Route 53, Route 10, and Dover-Chester Road.
We provide outpatient mental health treatment at multiple levels of care, including an intensive outpatient program and a Partial Care Program (sometimes referred to as PHP), with an evening IOP track and limited telehealth availability.
Denville residents come to us through online search, hospital discharge, and referrals from private therapists and primary care physicians.
Some people begin looking for structured treatment when weekly therapy is no longer providing enough support, but inpatient hospitalization is not clinically necessary. That middle level of care is what Wellness Hills provides.

Wellness Hills provides adult care at three outpatient levels. An assessment, not a self-diagnosis, determines which one fits, based on current safety, how symptoms are affecting daily life, and how much structure is needed right now. IOP and Partial Care are the levels between weekly therapy and a hospital stay.
Our intensive outpatient program may be appropriate for an adult who needs more support than weekly sessions but can still go home, work, and manage daily responsibilities. It runs in daytime and evening tracks. Days, times, and the Denville departure window are under Attending From Denville below.
The Partial Care Program is the highest level of outpatient care we offer, for someone who needs the fullest daytime support available without an overnight stay. Clients attend during the day and sleep in their own beds.
For adults who are stable enough for weekly care, our outpatient program provides ongoing individual therapy. Paula Weisman, PMHNP-BC, provides medication management and can coordinate it with any level of care.
Leigh Rasmussen, LPC, LCADC, our program director, leads the clinical team and oversees assessment and treatment planning. Paula Weisman, PMHNP-BC, provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management across all three levels of care.
Treatment at Wellness Hills draws on evidence-based approaches, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills groups, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing (MI), alongside individual sessions. We do not provide EMDR on site; when it would benefit a client, we coordinate a referral to an outside EMDR specialist.
From downtown Denville, take Route 53 South to Route 10, then Route 10 West into Randolph. Turn left onto Dover-Chester Road (County Route 513), which becomes North Road as it enters Chester Borough and ends at Main Street.
Turn onto Main Street; the office is at 425 Main St, Floor 1, across from Chase Bank, with parking in front. Plan on about 25 to 35 minutes for the roughly 14 to 16 miles. Travel time is an estimate and depends on Route 10 traffic.
Denville station sits on NJ Transit’s Morristown Line, with Midtown Direct trains to New York Penn Station and limited Montclair-Boonton Line service. Chester has no rail service, and the trip from Denville to our office is by car.
Evening IOP meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5:45 pm to 8:45 pm. Sessions start at 5:45, and the latest arrival is 6:00. To be in your seat at 5:45 on a slow night, be in your car and leaving Denville by about 5:10.
To make the 6:00 cutoff on a slow night, leave by about 5:25. The clock starts when you are driving, not when the train stops, so allow for the walk to your car. If your regular arrival at Denville station makes that tight, tell admissions before your assessment.
Daytime IOP meets from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, three or five days a week, and is reached by car.
Partial Care runs six days a week from 9am to 3pm. Local transportation to and from Chester is available for Denville residents enrolled in Partial Care, and admissions arranges pickup at intake.
Telehealth is limited. We determine it after assessment, based on clinical appropriateness and current program capacity.
An assessment determines the right level of care. The schedule then determines which track. These times are estimates based on typical traffic, not a guaranteed travel time.
Wellness Hills provides care for people living with a range of mental health conditions. At intake, a licensed clinician completes a diagnostic assessment and writes an individual treatment plan that records the diagnosis, the recommended level of care, and the goals reviewed during treatment. Conditions we work with include:
Diagnosis and program fit are determined at assessment, not by a list. If you do not see your concern here, you can review our full list of conditions or ask during your first call.

Wellness Hills is an outpatient facility. We do not provide emergency, inpatient, residential, or medical detox care. If you are in immediate physical danger or having a medical emergency, call 911. If you are in a suicidal or emotional crisis, call or text 988. The Wellness Hills admissions line is not a crisis line.
Emergency or crisis services come first for anyone in immediate danger, anyone unable to stay safe until an appointment, anyone who needs continuous monitoring, or anyone who may be experiencing dangerous withdrawal from alcohol or drugs.
A clinician asks about current safety as part of assessment. That conversation determines the level of care, and it is not a checklist you can score on your own. Thoughts of suicide on their own do not rule out structured outpatient care.
Morris County’s designated psychiatric emergency screening service is in Denville, at Saint Clare’s Denville Hospital, 25 Pocono Road. Saint Clare’s Behavioral Health in Boonton Township provides inpatient psychiatric services; it is a second campus of the same health system. Crisis and emergency numbers are listed in the resources section below.
A caller in acute crisis is helped to identify and reach a crisis unit for stabilization. When someone calls after a screening or an inpatient discharge, admissions verifies benefits, completes a pre-screen assessment, collects clinical and medical records, and sends them to the clinical team for fit review.
When clinically appropriate and space is available, admission may sometimes be coordinated on the day of discharge or within approximately 24 hours. Our step-up coordination page describes how we work with hospitals.

"I felt supported, understood, and never judged. The therapists here actually listen, and the groups helped me build confidence and skills I didn’t even know I needed. I’m healthier, calmer, and finally hopeful about my future. I’m so grateful for the care I received.”

Wellness Hills accepts commercial insurance and self-pay. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare plans.
Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by plan and by level of care. Before treatment begins, our admissions team can verify your benefits and explain the deductible, copay, coinsurance, and authorization requirements for your plan.
Verification does not guarantee payment, and the insurer makes the final coverage determination. Our insurance coverage page has more detail on how that process works.
Verify your insurance to find out where you stand before your first call.
These are community and county resources, not Wellness Hills services. Three of them are located at Denville addresses.
Questions about treatment from Denville. Anything not covered here, admissions can answer on the phone.
Your discharge summary and any recent psychiatric or medication records, or a signed release so we can request them. The steps admissions follows are under After a Saint Clare’s Visit above.
For Denville residents enrolled in Partial Care, yes. The program offers local transportation to and from Chester, and admissions can set it up during intake. Individuals in IOP or outpatient therapy drive; the route is under Getting To Wellness Hills From Denville, and the evening departure times are under Attending From Denville.
It depends on when you can be in your car. Evening IOP starts at 5:45 pm with a 6:00 pm latest arrival, and the departure times that work from Denville are under Attending From Denville. If your regular train makes that tight, raise it with admissions before your assessment.
The first call is with admissions. You tell admissions what’s been happening; they check your insurance, and they schedule an assessment, often available the same week. From there, the clinical team recommends a level of care, and you decide whether it fits.
